El Paso Electric Donates $5,000 for Winter Blanket Drive to Help Support Vulnerable Families and Seniors

EL PASO, Texas (November 21, 2024) – As temperatures drop and the winter season approaches, El Paso Electric (EPE) is proud to announce a $5,000 donation to the Extreme Weather Task Force for a winter blanket drive. The donation will provide blankets to help the community's most vulnerable members stay warm throughout the coldest months of the year.

"A blanket provides more than physical warmth—it represents security, dignity and compassion," said Cheryl Mele, vice president of customer and employee services at EPE. "Through this donation, we aim to bring comfort and safety to families and seniors during the winter season."

Winter blankets are more than a comfort; they are often a lifeline for those without adequate heating. Exposure to freezing temperatures can lead to severe health complications such as hypothermia, especially for elderly individuals and young children. With this donation, EPE hopes to alleviate some of the struggles associated with winter and create a tangible impact in the lives of those it serves.

In addition to providing essential warmth, this donation fosters a sense of community and unity. Efforts like these bring together local organizations, volunteers and individuals in a shared mission to support neighbors in need, reminding us all of the power of collective care.
