El Paso Electric Names Jessica Christianson as Vice President of Sustainability and Energy Solutions
EL PASO, Texas – El Paso Electric (EPE) has implemented organizational changes to further advance clean energy initiatives and develop innovative customer solutions as the Company names Jessica Christianson Vice President of Sustainability and Energy Solutions.
In her new role, Jessica Christianson, former Senior Director of Innovation and Sustainability, will lead Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) initiatives for the Utility and focus on ways to further embed these efforts into EPE’s culture, operations, business plan and strategy.
“Jessica’s experience in developing policies and strategies to improve environmental performance and implement clean energy solutions together with her passion for our community will serve her well in this new role,” shares EPE President and CEO Kelly A. Tomblin. “In order for El Paso Electric to fulfill our vision of Transforming our Energy Landscape, our strategy must be holistically connected to energy solutions that will serve our customers affordably and reliably while reducing our carbon footprint over the long term.”
Jessica began her career at EPE in 2013 as a Principal Scientist. Over the course of nine years, Jessica has held positions of increasing responsibility including Environmental Manager, Director of Sustainability, and most recently, Senior Director of Innovation and Sustainability. Jessica is integral in producing EPE’s annual Corporate Sustainability Report, first published in 2017, which is released every summer; leading EPE’s ESG initiatives; and advancing new technologies and programs such as transportation electrification, electric vehicle infrastructure, and renewable energy expansion.
Her commitment to environmental stewardship is matched by her passion for the Paso del Norte region. Jessica currently serves on the Board of Directors for the YWCA El Paso del Norte Region, the Texas A&M Research Advisory Board, EPE’s Community Partners Committee helping oversee $1.2 Million in grants to nonprofits, and is an avid volunteer through EPE’s Volunteers on Location to Serve (VOLTS) program.
Jessica received her Master of Science in Environmental Engineering from the University of Florida, a Master of Science in Soil Science and a Bachelor of Science in Crop and Soil Science from Oregon State University, an Associate of Science in Forest Technology from Penn State University, and a graduate certification in public utility regulation and economics from New Mexico State University.
