Vice President of Power Generation
EL PASO, Texas – El Paso Electric (EPE) names 19-year Company veteran, David Rodriguez, as vice president of power generation.
David Rodriguez was previously EPE’s senior director of support services and supply chain management where he oversaw the Company’s facility services and project management, fleet services, materials management, procurement contracts, supplier diversity and investment recovery teams. David began his career at EPE in 2003 and has held other positions of increasing responsibility over the last 19 years including director of support services, manager of support services, project manager, and power plant operator.
“David has the experience, industry insight, and creativity to lead our new power generation strategy and enhanced operations. David has been a strong member of our community for years and I look forward to his contribution to the transformation of the energy landscape,” shares EPE President and CEO Kelly A. Tomblin. “The success of our mission is built on the foundation of our team members and their growth over time. David began his journey more than 19 years ago when he started at EPE as a power plant operator and now he is a strong and respected leader within EPE and in our Region.”
In his new role, David will lead over 150 team members in all areas of EPE’s power generation division, including engineering, asset management, power plant operation and maintenance, outage management, and generation construction projects.
Born and raised in El Paso, Texas, David is a proud graduate of Irvin High School. He then went on to serve in the United States Navy as a Boiler Technician during Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. David holds an MBA with a concentration in Finance and a Bachelor’s in Business Management from the University of Texas El Paso. He is a certified project management professional and recently joined the board for RMEL, a not-for-profit energy trade association dedicated to the education, training, and professional development of electric energy professionals.
