El Paso Electric Company has released a request for proposal for an advanced metering infrastructure. The notification of intent to bid is due Nov. 1, and a bidder will be selected by April 9, 2020. The RFP brings the utility one step closer to deploying “smart” meters to customers across the region, a big undertaking that would allow residents to track their electrical data in real-time and help the utility better manage energy use.
