Expanding Solar Savings: EPE Brings More Affordable Renewable Energy to Customers
SAN ELIZARIO, Texas (March 18, 2025) – El Paso Electric (EPE) is proud to announce that its newest Texas Community Solar facility is now online, bringing more solar energy to customers in Texas. The Chihuahuan Desert is a 10-megawatt facility that will provide solar energy to 5,000 additional customers, with lower monthly charges for current subscribers and extra discounts for income-eligible households.
“We’re always looking for ways to expand renewable energy options that are practical for our customers,” said Jessica Christianson, EPE Vice President of Business Development. “This expansion makes solar energy accessible to even more families and businesses, giving them a simple way to support clean energy without the cost or maintenance of rooftop panels.”
The new solar facility, located in San Elizario, Texas, spans 70 acres of previously unused farmland and features 18,930 solar panels that harness the sun’s energy to power homes and businesses throughout the region. Built in partnership with EDF Renewables, this facility reflects EPE’s ongoing commitment to expanding renewable energy options for its customers.
