TCEQ: Grants for Electricity Storage Projects
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality announces that grant funds are available for Electricity Storage Projects, the storage of power from renewable energy that is released back to the grid, under the New Technology Implementation Grant Program. Eligible organizations that intend to build, own, and operate new technologies to reduce emissions and store electricity related to renewable energy are encouraged to apply.
These innovative projects help Texas become a leader in new technologies that can solve the state’s environmental challenges while creating new business and industry in the state and maintaining the quality of air in Texas.
Examples of electricity storage projects that can be funded:
- Compressed Air Energy Storage
- Pumped Hydropower
- Thermal Storage (hot water, molten salt, or phase change)
- Lithium-ion Batteries
For more information on the grant program, to access up-to-date information on the application process, and to download copies of all application forms, visit the NTIG Program webpage or call 800-919-TERP (8377). Application deadline is Tuesday, May 1, 2018, 5:00 p.m., CST.
To help applicants, the TCEQ is hosting a workshop to review the grant requirements and the application process. Reservations are not required. The workshop is on Wednesday, March 28, 2018, 1:30 -3:30 p.m. at TCEQ headquarters, 12100 Park 35 Circle, Building E, Conference Room 254S, Austin, Texas 78753.
