El Paso Electric Awards Donations to Texas Community Groups and Organizations

2019 Community Partner Award Reception

El Paso, Texas – Community groups, organizations and nonprofits that serve El Paso’s most vulnerable all gathered today for El Paso Electric’s (EPE) 2019 Community Partner Program Award Reception. The award reception highlighted the services that each organization bring to our community on a daily basis. Over 70 organizations also received a donation from EPE’s long-running Community Partner Program that will financially aid their ability to continue their services, for a total award amount of $369,800.

“We are incredibly honored to have been selected as one of the local organizations to receive funds from El Paso Electric’s Community Partner Program,” said Frank Lopez, executive director for Ronald McDonald House Charities – El Paso. “In our 35th year of assisting some of our communities most vulnerable families and children, we know that the strength in our service is truly found in the quality of our partnerships. We are proud to call El Paso Electric a partner and advocate in our mission serving El Paso families.”

EPE’s Community Partner Program spans between Texas and New Mexico supporting a wide array of civic and charitable programs that positively impact our region. This corporate giving program is just one way EPE proactively involves itself, and its employees, in the community. Each organization that was awarded a donation represents focus areas for the utility, including economic development, education (STEAM), neighborhood engagement, environment and wildlife. In 2018, EPE awarded approximately $1.3 million to community groups and organizations in Texas and New Mexcio.

“While providing safe, clean, reliable and sustainable energy for our growing community is at the core of our business, serving as a community partner is part of our mission in moving us all forward,” shares El Paso Electric Vice President of Strategic Communications, Customer and Community Engagement Eddie Gutierrez. “The EPE Community Partner Program is incredibly intentional about who is awarded these donations ensuring that these organizations are making a positive and local impact.”

A second round of applications for 2019 are welcomed. The next deadline to apply for EPE’s Community Partner Program is August 1, 2019. To learn more about EPE’s Community Partner Program, visit: www.epelectric.com/community/community-partner-program.
