EV Smart Rewards Program
Residential customers can earn cash by participating in El Paso Electric’s EV Smart Rewards Program, which pays customers for allowing the utility to schedule their charging during hours that are most beneficial for the grid and cheapest for customers. El Paso Electric helps participants optimize their charging schedules and handles the logistics remotely through an app.

Home Wiring Program
The Home Wiring Program provides standard residential customers a rebate of up to $1,300 for installation costs associated with a new 240-volt electric outlet for EV home charging, and up to $1,800 for qualifying income-qualified customers. If a panel upgrade is required, El Paso Electric will provide an additional rebate of up to $2,500. Rebates cannot exceed 100% of the costs paid by the customer.
- Has a residential customer account with El Paso Electric in New Mexico.
- Owns or rents a single-family home. Renters must have homeowner permission.
- Owns or leases an EV that is registered with the New Mexico Motor Vehicle Division using the service address listed on El Paso Electric’s residential account.
- Must provide proof of payment to confirm the work was completed. Work must be completed after April 1, 2024.
- Must provide proof that the work passed city/county/CID inspections, if applicable.
- Must enroll in El Paso Electric’s EV Smart Rewards program for a minimum of 18 months if the customer has a qualifying EV or charging station.
- If the customer does not have a qualifying EV or charging station to participate in EV Smart Rewards, they must enroll in the Whole-House EV Rate Plan.
- Income-qualified customers must submit a self-certification of income eligibility form.
Customers can choose to enroll in the EV Smart Rewards program and the Whole-House EV Rate Plan to achieve greater savings.

Smart Charging Program
Residential customers who apply for the Smart Charging Program can receive a rebate of up to $500 for the purchase of a qualifying level 2 EV charging station for their home. Qualifying income-qualified residential customers can receive a rebate of up to $600.
- Has a residential customer account with El Paso Electric in New Mexico.
- Owns an EV that is registered with the New Mexico Motor Vehicle Division using the service address listed on El Paso Electric’s residential account.
- Has a qualifying charging station that was installed after April 1, 2024.
- Must agree to share EV charging data with El Paso Electric.
- Must enroll in El Paso Electric’s EV Smart Rewards program for a minimum of 18 months if the customer has a qualifying EV or charging station.
- If a customer does not have a qualifying EV or charging station, they must enroll in El Paso Electric’s Whole-House EV Rate Plan.
- Must have Wi-Fi capability at home. Low-income customers are excluded from this requirement.
- Income-qualified customers must submit a self-certification of income eligibility form.
